چکیده

This paper presents a novel representation for human actions which encodes the variations in the shape and motion of the performing actor. When an actor performs an action, at each time instant, the outer object boundary is projected to the image plane as a 2D contour. A sequence of such contours forms a 3D volume in the spatiotemporal space. The differential geometric analysis of the volume surface results in a set of action descriptors. These descriptors constitute the action sketch which is used to represent the human actions. The action sketch captures the changes in the shape and motion of the performing actor in an unified manner. Since the action sketch is obtained from the extrema of the differential geometric surface features, it is robust to viewpoint changes. We demonstrate the versatility of the action sketch in the context of action recognition, which is formulated as a view geometric similarity problem. 2007 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A study on effect of crack on free vibration of thick rectangular plate with initial geometric imperfection using differential quadrature method

In this study, vibration of initially imperfect cracked thick plate has been investigated using the differential quadrature method. The crack modeled as an open crack using a no-mass linear spring. The governing equations of vibration of a cracked plate are derived using the Mindlin theory and considering the effect of initial imperfection in Von-Karman equations. Differential equations are dis...

A Differential Transform Approach for Modal Analysis of Variable Thickness Two-directional FGM Circular Plates on Elastic Foundations

Based on the differential transformation method, a semi-analytical solution is developed for free vibration and modal stress analyses of variable thickness two-directional functionally graded circular plates with restrained edges, resting on elastic foundations. Variations of the material and geometry parameters are monitored by five distinct exponential functions. The presented non-dimensional...

A study on the use of perturbation technique for analyzing the nonlinear forced response of piezoelectric microcantilevers

In this paper, a comparison is made between direct and indirect perturbation approaches to solve the non-linear vibration equations of a piezoelectrically actuated cantilever microbeam. In this comparison, the equation of motion is considered according to Euler-Bernoulli theory with considering the non-linear geometric and inertia terms resulted from shortening effect. In the direct perturbatio...

KABouM: Knowledge-Level Action and Bounding Geometry Motion Planner

For robots to solve real world tasks, they often require the ability to reason about both symbolic and geometric knowledge. We present a framework, called KABouM, for integrating knowledge-level task planning and motion planning in a bounding geometry. By representing symbolic information at the knowledge level, we can model incomplete information, sensing actions and information gain; by repre...
